ITIL v3 Update
Ken Turbitt of SMCG has been appointed as one of the official reviewers for ALL of the 6 core books in the ITIL v3 set. This is a great opportunity to help with the removal of anomolies and provide more consistancies across the core set. This opportunity will also ensure that the ITIL Software Scheme is kept in line with the changes once they are published and have been in circulation.
The ITIL® Software Scheme:
In a move intended to simplify the corporate procurement of IT Service Management (ITSM) technology, the UK’s Office of Government Commerce (OGC) - the creators and ‘owners’ of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) - has officially endorsed a compliance framework for assessing ITSM tools, and associated processes and documentation, against ITIL best practices. SMCG is the first ITIL Licensed Assessor.
The Service Management Consultancy (SMCG) Ltd
For the first time in the history of ITIL® you can have your applications assessed to show their compliance with the ITIL version 2 or 3 processes. It is the ‘rubber stamp’ that customers have been waiting for, proof that software really is ITIL compliant. Consider your competitive advantage with the process compliant logo in your product literature - it makes sense for you and your customers.
SMCG Approved Assessments are approved by both OGC1 and APMG2 and aimed at vendor applications that are designed to automate ITIL processes, this ITIL Compliant Software Assessment service covers the following three criteria:
1. The extent to which the application supports the ITIL processes being reviewed including an ‘ease of use’ assessment.
2. The degree of automation within the application that aids the process flow between stages.
3. The quality of user documentation.
All three areas must be in agreement with each other and in alignment with the ITIL guidelines. If a ‘pass’ is achieved the vendor will be awarded the rights to use an official Trademark (ITIL ™ Process Compliant™) on documentation and marketing material.
